In 2003, the Province of British Columbia introduced a new dedicated-fee funding model, under which 100% of the money collected from licence sales is used to support freshwater sport fisheries services. General Revenues, rather than licence fees, now support conservation and restoration of wild fish populations.

This provincial government website allows anglers to search for a freshwater fishing licence vendor in British Columbia by entering their location, vendor name (i.e. tackle shop) or choosing a location of a Service BC Centre. These licence vendors can also provide a free copy of the British Columbia Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis.
