FFSBC will release 250 “catchable” rainbow trout (averaging
approximately 230 grams in size) into Lake Ida Anne on Monday May 4th.

A fish tagging program on Mabel Lake is expected to produce valuable
new information on rainbow trout biology and recreational fishing
effort, but the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC needs a few good
anglers to make it work.

"If you stock them, They will fish" A Report Card on Fishing in the City

While I suspect that most people think of fishing as a pastime that
traditionally takes place in remote locations far from the hustle and
bustle of urban centres, this does not have to be the case. In fact,
last year the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC and a group of local
partners decided to shatter that myth and find out what would happen if
we tried to create a purpose-built, customized sport fishery in the
heart of the Lower Mainland.

Freshwater Fisheries Society Gets Rice Lake Fishing Season Underway

This spring the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC will be releasing
more than 8,000 trout into Rice Lake in series of bi-weekly stockings
over the spring and early summer.

Surrey’s Green Timbers Lake stocked with Rainbow Trout

On Wednesday, April 15, Lena Shaw Elementary School took two grade four
classes to Green Timbers Lake to assist in the release of 700 catchable
sized Rainbow Trout. Sixty students helped fish culturists from the
Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC release these fish back into the
wild.

Freshwater Anglers Won't Need a Licence Until April 18

Anglers who want to fish in British Columbia’s lakes, rivers and
streams during the next nine days won’t have to worry about buying a
new fishing licence, Environment Minister Barry Penner announced today.

Learn to Fish at the Brandt Wildlife Festival

On Saturday, April 18 expert anglers from the
Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC will be teaching children, as well as
their parents, basic angling skills including how to choose the right equipment,
bait techniques, fish identification, fish handling and fishing etiquette as
well as licensing protocols.
