Learn to Fish in the Kootenays in 2009!
The Kootenay Trout Hatchery is offering Learn to Fish programs this summer and is encouraging aspiring anglers of all ages to make 2009 the year that they discover the joys of fishing.

Langford Lake
Nearest town/city: in Langford
Driving directions: Access the fishing dock on the Ed Nixon trail (boardwalk on the western edge of the lake) from Goldstream Ave at the TransCanada Highway. A public boat launch is located at the end of Leigh Rd.
Facilities: A fishing dock, trails and boat launch.
Fish in the lake: stocked catchable-sized rainbow trout; cutthroat trout and introduced smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and pumpkinseed sunfish are also present.

Thetis Lake
Nearest town/city: in Langford
Driving directions: From Victoria, follow the TransCanada Highway and take the Colwood exit; follow the Old Island Highway and turn right on Six Mile Road.

Fish in the lake: stocked catchable-sized rainbow trout; introduced brown bullhead, pumpkinseed sunfish and smallmouth bass are also present.
Tip: Fish from shore or from a small boat.
