Kawkawa Lake
Description: Kawkawa Lake is home to one of the most unique fisheries in the Upper Fraser Valley. About half of this lake's shoreline is residential; the rest is steeply forested hillsides and rock slides. The lake is also home to numerous birds including loons, Canada geese, mallards, redtail hawks, and bald eagles. Sightings of black bears and Columbia blacktail deer are also common.
Nearest town/city: Hope
Driving directions: Accessible from the Coquihalla Highway north of Hope. Take the Kawkawa Lake/Peers Creek exit and proceed south towards the town of Hope for about 2.5 km.
Facilities: A picnic site, boat launch and pit toilets are located in the bay area on the south shoreline. A large, private campground is located on the eastern shoreline; there is also a campground on the Coquihalla River within 1 km of the lake.
Fish in the lake: this lake features healthy, self-sustaining kokanee, coastal cutthroat trout, and residualized coho populations.

Wahleach Lake
(also known as Jones Lake)
Description: This lake is a BC Hydro impoundment located in the Cascade Mountains at the eastern end of the Fraser Valley. With a backdrop of Mt. Cheam at its west end and heavily forested hillsides surrounding the rest of the lake, it is a constant reminder of how wild and remote B.C. can be. This lake provides excellent sport fishing.
Nearest town/city: Chilliwack
Driving directions: Take the Laidlaw/Jones Lake exit off of Highway 1 about 15 km east of Bridal Falls near Chilliwack. Follow the exit for 0.5 km over Jones Creek, turn right onto Jones Lake Forest Service Rd and follow it 11 km to the lake. Trucks or SUVs are best suited to the steep and rough road.
Facilities: Two BC Hydro sponsored recreation areas provide about 50 individual campsites on the north shore of the reservoir; both have designated wheelchair accessible campsites, pit toilets and picnic tables.
Fish in the lake: stocked with a variety of fish-cutthroat trout, kokanee and rainbow trout
Tips: The best angling is from mid-May to mid-July and then again from September to the end of October. The best angling for trout is within 50 meters of the shoreline, whereas the best bet for kokanee is at the mid-water zone farther out in the lake.
