Region 3: Thompson-Nicola
The Thompson-Nicola region is part of B.C.'s great, interior plateau; it enjoys warm, dry summers, making it a popular vacation destination. Nestled in the picturesque, low rolling hills of the interior plateau, there are hundreds of lakes to fish. The most popular lakes are regularly stocked to assure top-quality stillwater angling for everyone.
The main hub city is Kamloops, for which the region's exciting, high-flying native rainbow trout are named. In addition to the Kamloops rainbow trout, there are over 20 species of freshwater fish to tempt anglers of every skill level. And don't be put off by winter. For hardier souls, there is exceptional ice fishing after freeze-up on many lakes, and world-famous steelhead fishing on the Thompson River.
In addition to the fabulous fishing, there is skiing and snowboarding in the winter, and horseback riding, canoeing, whitewater river-rafting, hiking, or golfing during the summer. You'll have many activities to choose from in this vacation paradise.
