Region 8: Okanagan
While 130-kilometre-long Lake Okanagan and neighbouring Kalamalka Lake dominate the Okanagan valley, the hills surrounding them harbour hundreds of small, quiet, backcountry lakes teeming with fish. Whether you want to cruise the major valley lakes or take in the stunning, peaceful beauty of a mountain pond, you will find excellent fishing.
The sunny Okanagan Valley has a well-deserved reputation as a vacation paradise. During the summer months, visitors flock to the beaches around warm-water lakes, buy freshly-picked fruit and vegetables from roadside stands, enjoy golf and watersports, and take tours of world-renowned vineyards and wineriest.
With it's world-class cross-country and downhill skiing during the winter, the Okanagan is a year-round outdoor playground. The region is easily accessed via major highways and airports and well-serviced with motels, resorts, campgrounds, and boat launches.
